Personally I wouldn't even bother with the jetty. Fish shallow in the surf with light tackle and load up on pompano with shrimp pieces on small hooks like you are bream fishing, and keep your eyes out for schooling ladyfish early in the morning. By the late morning, it is too hot to fish, get in the shade and start drinking. Also, the birds will steal your bait when you turn your back. Keep it in a small cooler they can't open. Also the larger cranes will try to get the pompano off your hook for you. good luck, have fun!
