Some "major schools" don't have football teams.

But which ones are you talking about. All SEC teams have one I believe all ACC all Big 12, all Big 10 etc. The Big East is a basketball conference. So I don't see your point.

Baseball is a sport that gives smaller teams a chance. A school like Fresno State could get three solid starters who were overlooked by the big schools and win it all.

Edit: you are applying football logic to baseball. In Football the powerhouse schools like Bama Ohio State LSU should dominate schools like ULL, Colorado etc. In baseball a school like Stetson who has none of the resources that others have can be competitive.

To further prove my point in 2013 the Astros lost 111 games. 4 years later they win it all and now are the best team in baeeball. The KC Royals won it I think in 15 or 16, now they are putting together a year like the Astros did in 2013. Baseball is a sport that teams can go way up and down in and a few good players can really turn things around. The difference between the worst MLB team and the best isn't as big as basketball and football. Pro Basketball has become the least competitive sport in the country.
