He was overrated as a fighter but man that dude had a great run as one of the most feared boxers in history
No he wasn't, he steamrolled through the best at that time with ease. His downfall began by marrying Robin Givens, getting rid of Kevin Rooney and of course aligning himself with Don King.

Had Cus D'Amato lived 10 years longer, it would be a totally different story.

I've never heard as many excuses for a fighter than I've heard for Mike Tyson:

Cus died, Givens and her mother( whom he abused/ terrorized), Desiree Washington, Don King,,etc.....Many boxers overcome chaotic personal lives.

the heavyweight division in the 1980's was really weak and it may Tyson look golden.

The 90's saw much better talent come around

Holyfield and Lewis both beat Tyson
He never fought Foreman or Bowe

Was truly fun to watch in his Heyday though. Never saw anyone since young George Foreman that had his one punch knock out power. Best I've seen from the clinch and close quarter fighting. Struggled a little with fighters who had really good movement which is often not common in the Heavyweight division.
