Bingo. Just because it's valuable doesn't make it a good gift. I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but it's common in the business world to use gifts like this to basically check a box without putting in any real effort.

But giving you a Disney gift card and a Ruth's Christ gift card are two entirely different animals. The OP isn't debating whether or not a GC is a quality gift. He's asking whether a GC in this amount is reasonable or if it should have been a larger amount, considering the restaurant.
