Very true.
At least we agree on something.

I am not going to pretend to be one of the sheep to make you feel better. I don't care if that makes me an elitist in your eyes.
Not sure how that makes me feel better, as I don't care one way or the other if you agree with my statement.

This is the sort of statement I expect from a Trump supporter. Let's vilify education...meanwhile every company in our capitalist society highly values it. If it means nothing then why is it required to even get in the door for a reasonable job?
Nice generalization. As someone who works in higher education, I see plenty of people getting degrees that don't mean as much as I'd like them to mean. And no, every company in our capitalist society doesn't value it. There are many companies that take people without higher education and still pay fairly well. Anecdotally, I can point to several people without a college degree making close to six figures a year. At the same time, I can point to many, with a college degree, earning $35 or less. Again, the education meme is tired.

quote:Of course there are exceptions. But those folks would undoubtedly tell you themselves that they would have had an easier road in the job market if they had checked the boxes that recruiting professionals use as basic metrics. I get contacted via Linkedin for unsolicited interviews multiple times every single week simply because of my education and certifications. The interview is where they will evaluate where my experience is applicable but the opportunity is presented because I have valuable metrics to go along with my experience.

Again, the education meme is tired.
