It's not an unreasonable position. Particularly for a "have-not" trying to run with the "haves".
All athletic depts should self- sustain or die and that tax money could be spent on academics.
If you're so worried about have-nots, you should buy their tickets, concessions and gear.

Ah yes, I must have forgotten when the "invisible hand of the marketplace" limited teams to exactly 83 scholarship players per year with no more than exactly 25 of them added to the team in any given year. Hooray Freedom!!!!
Edit: I just saw that somehow you apparently think "have-nots" refers to individuals who are poor; I didn't think I would have to spell it out, but the "have-not" here would be LSU, a school located in a poor state that does not have as many wealthy alumni (in number or in wealth) as some other schools.
