A lot of those "children" were old enough to know they were entering the USA illegally when their parents or whoever brought them across the border.

Besides, it's like getting a speeding ticket for going 70 in a 60 MPH zone when you didn't know the speed limit is 60 mph.

You will still be found guilty of violating the 60 mph speed limit even though you had no intent to violate the speed limit and had no knowledge of what the speed limit was.
