After the Troy game I said this would happen. O brings nothing from a strategic or tactical standpoint. The only way he could succeed is if he were a good relationship guy that put his coordinators in position to succeed. Les got this and was pretty good at it. That's why he hung around for as long as he did despite the fact that he didn't bring much strategically or tactically.
If O really got into a fist-fight with Canada, he was finished then. Regardless of how successful LSU was in keeping the details out of the paper, it would get around. That information along with O's record and his self-evident incompetence would prevent LSU from getting elite talent whatever the cost. We're at a point now where we're required to pay top 5 coordinator money to tempt an average coordinator.
Offer Aranda the HC position. LSU will be firing O either now or within the next 2 years. If we choose the latter, the program sinks to Hallman levels.

If O got into a fist-fight with his coordinator, fire him for cause and fight it out in the court over the buyout. Make it as expensive for O as possible and force him to settle for $3M. He's still set for life and we don't let him ruin the program.
