Lowes in Gonzales will have some at random times

be prepared to dig though, those things are as crooked as preacher dick

Id glue then rip 2x6. 2x4 will leave you with visable seams unless you rip them to 3" wide

Not sure about the paint, but when I put in a deck using it, I had to wait a year before putting a water seal on it. Needed to dry out to take the seal. I would imagine the same for paint.
