It could be yours just ran itself out of its lifespan and needs to be replaced. google the namebrand/model and see if yours is also a piece of shite variety.
This. One of mine did this same thing in our house (new construction) after the 2 year mark. I just trashed it and got a new one at Home Depot.
That’s what I get for being OT poor and going with one of the national builders I guess.
I anticipate changing all of them out within the next couple of years.
