The Presbyterian Church has been the official Church of Scotland since the Reformation. The Blue Hose refers to the stockings warn by Scottish warriors.

I think its more accurate to say they ARE The Blue Hose, no idea about the mascot. Sorta like bama IS the crimson tide, their mascot is an elephant.

My alma mater and played football there. Yes, originally called the Blue Stockings or Sox, then hose. The Scot warrior is the unofficial mascot.

At least go with Blue Sox because Blue Hose is just short for Blue Panty Hose.
