The notion that most kids that commit eventually decommit is just not true. Getting an early commitment significantly improves your chances, and by and large the kids word means something. We focus on the rare exceptions and the kids that commit 3-4 times. The good kids that never waiver, most of them, never get a thread.

I agree it’s frustrating sometimes when players de-commit, but I’m always excited when a young blue chip wants to become a Tiger!

Welcome aboard this crazy train Mr. Evans. Nothing like being a LSU football player!

I wasn't implying that most who commit early eventually de-commit, as a matter of fact the number's that do versus don't is rather low. And I'm not trying to be negative or a party pooper, or a Debbie Downer, I was just making a point that a lot can take place in the life of a sixteen or seventeen year old in a years time and a commitment today doesn't guarantee the kid will definitely sign with LSU a year later. I suppose an early commit could make an impression on other recruits and actually help LSU in their recruiting efforts even if the player renege's on their commitment. Of course that does go both ways at time's. Sometimes a late commit puts a team over their limit and they must tell a player they have no room. I know that doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. Well, it does happen at most schools, but not the U of Saban. There they just sign the kids anyway and muddle through the mire later.
