Until late last month every week came with a built in excuse
Starting with sports media outlets. You cannot ignore an entire year of denial. Last year it was explained away most commonly with the election as the culprit. This year it was hurricanes, matchups, etc. I can start posting articles and bumping threads if you like.
Of course it’s still a behemoth. But the difference in what networks pay now and what they’re going to pay when the rights are being negotiated again is serious cash motherfricking money...and if not fixed they’re going to forecast future declines into their bid.
We’re in year 2 if a sustained and growing decline. There’s a hole in the ship and no one has plugged it so ratings declines will ccontinue
NFL is fine right now, networks are getting teamed. Still a behemoth but tell that to the networks but it’s not as if the networks didn’t pay for the ratings before the slump with the expectation they will continue to increase
