MOST of these incidents we see in the news start out as simple traffic stops that turn bad. I know where you're heading, but legalizing marijuana (for example) would not have prevented this guy from being pulled over by the cops for riding his bicycle across 6 lanes of traffic without a night light.

Nor would they have prevented him from having a warrant out for his arrest for an aggravated assault charge.

You see what I'm saying.

Ok, fair enough. It definitely looks like this incident wasn't in the context of a warrant for a dime bag or something. I'm not talking specifically about this incident, but there are things that would have totally changed the outcome. Such as not totally bungling the detention/arrest. That's another issue many people have with the police. Just plain poor skills.
