The area inside the levee/floodwall protection system is rated to 100 year surge at this point. This has nothing to do with the pumps inside the system that handle storm water.

The state/CPRA/Levee Districts are responsible for maintaining these levees and keeping federal flood elevation.

100 Year surge protection is about the best you can hope for in New Orleans considering the environmental issues/subsidence that happens with bigger/taller levees.

One big thing to look for in an actual surge event is the effect on the lake water and the northshore. The northshore has zero storm surge protection.
