Re-read my post. I'm not saying we've ditched football completely, to your point it's our cash cow.

My point is that Alleva must think he can run a mediocre football program, bring in similar revenue numbers because Coach O is a likeable cajun - all the while rebuilding our basketball program.

Again, why is it one or the other? Why not build championship level teams in BOTH sports?

Now, another reason why your theory doesnt make sense. If the idea is to not be competitive in football and build a championship basketball program, answere these questions:

1. Why has Alleva, as others have pointed out, not kept all his promises about resources and facility upgrades that he made to Wade? Seems like that would ahve been priority #1.

2. Why did he give O a blank check to hire coordinators, making Aranda and Canada 2 of the highest paid assistants in the country? If his goal was to devalue football as you suggest, why didn't he cut the assistant coach budget and use that money saved for basketball?
