Sure. I can speak from experience since I attended damn near fifty games in the 90's alone while I was a teen.
It was off and on. Early season easy wins were always full, then reality would set in when SEC started. I distinctly recall looking at schedules in June to pick out the "for sure" games LSU would win so I could see them. Was usually just a few. For example, we would have beaten a "Troy" in the 90s. LOL
After reality would set in, it was "Well lets go to the Bama game to see David Palmer or whoever". "Oh look, UF and so and so QB will be here in October, let's go see that guy play". Or even worse, "So and so from Louisiana, who committed to another SEC team, will be in TS to beat LSU's arse, let's go watch him play"
Every so often we would play a game close or upset someone. For the most part the fans were better, IMO.
