Even after he did Seinfeld his big stand-up show on HBO wasn't really on par with the stand-up that was going on at the time.
I'm not saying he has to be Richard Pryor and tell people to frick off...but there's no way he'd hold a candle to some guys today on the circuit.
But I think you can separate Jerry as the comedian from Jerry and the show. One was everything...the other - well, how can he afford to buy his Dad a Cadillac! We've seen his act! Even Jerry makes fun of himself as a stand-up.
