I would like to think the breach will end Equifax. But, the credit check companies are some of the most powerful just by virtue of everything they know.

They know more about most people than their employers, their doctors and their children - spouse-level detail about financial stuff. Heck, probably more than Google on finances. And there is literally nothing you can do about it if you want to use money in the modern economy.
