They have the same fundamental problem: cronyism. Les went down with Cameron and Peveto. Payton went down with McMahon and Vitt.
But what I saw last night was depressing though. Payton has always been a "WTF?" play caller. They just all went right in 2009. He's the kind of coach who will run a double reverse on 4th and 1 because nobody's expecting it. But last night was so predictable and conservative that it drove me crazy. "I'm gonna run Adrian Peterson every snap he's in the game because everyone expects me to use him as a decoy. I'm never going to pass in goal-to-go situations because everyone expects me to call a pass. I'm gonna run off right tackle the play after Strief gets hurt because who's gonna predict that. And at the end of the game I'm just gonna pad Brees and Ingram's stats because they think I'm gonna try to win the game." What you saw last night shouldn't surprise anyone though.
