re: Petition to "Wait Until 8th [grade]" to buy cell phones

It's none of my business what other people do with their children. Mine won't have a smart phone before the 8th grade, but he will have one of the phones that you can program numbers for, including parents and 911. They don't have messaging or web browsing capability, but they are cell phones and there's nothing wrong with them.

This phone on Amazon is made, specifically, for small children. Today the only homes that usually have landlines are those with elderly people. Kids need a means to make calls when necessary and there are plenty of limited capability phones in which parents can program the only numbers that a child is allowed to dial.
