Not true at all. He was a pointless character. Yeah he is supposed to be the "normal guy," but that has such a low ceiling that he becomes nothing. Had he not been written off, the show would have been cancelled by season 3. It is not a coincidence how much better the show got when he left.

The shows improvement was due to the rise of Andy and the leveling of Leslie as a semi normal character and going away from the Office format and towards their own style

Brandnowitz was a fun dry humor contrast to everyone. The show would've still been successful with him.

season 2 is one of the best seasons
