Put up 2011 LSU against 2005 USC
Do you really think LSU would beat that team.

Absolutely, they could beat them. Notre Dame almost beat them. Would say USC wins 6 out of 10 times. People don't realize how insane LSU's defense and special teams were that year, and how much they could control the clock and field position. In terms of NFL talent alone (that actually panned out), it's easily a Top 5 team all time. Obviously there are more factors than that, but that alone keeps them on the field with 2005 USC.

Is 2005 USC better than 2007 LSU? Obviously. Is 2011 LSU better than 2007 LSU? Obviously. Not winning championships doesn't preclude a team from being great, nor does winning championships mean you are better than all non champs all time.

That defense that Texas had in 2005 was stacked with NFL talent and USC put up points on them.
Ohio State moved the Ball some on that team but pretty much all year that 05 defense dominated.

You are taking one game out of the entire season and I can do the same with LSU. The game against Miss State I remember watching and thinking how good the SEC was that year because Miss State was one big play from turning that game but didn't have the exceptional talent to do so. That was why in 2014 I wasn't surprise when State started to have a good season because they had competed the previous 2 or 3 years but couldn't break though.

So was 2011 Miss State better than 2005 ND.
It doesn't really matter what matters is how a football team wins and perseveres against adversity and any team that has ever won a championship has to overcome obstacles
