Can someone explain the difference in the 2 calls? LSU tagged the runner out at home. Both plays looked the same to me. Glad LSU got the call. Just curious as to the difference. TIA.

Jaquish was positioned properly in not blocking the runners path to the plate prior to receiving the ball on the throw.
The UCLA catcher was blocking the runners path almost immediately when she did not have the ball.
Part of the controversy is that Quinn did not appear to alter her path to the plate, which is part of the requirement for the obstruction rule.
