Probably because it's just a name. You more than likely want to start a new life, hence why you got divorced. Why keep the name? Just move on with a clean slate.

its just a name, so you can start a new life after the divorce with a clean slate without changing it.

Also divorces can come after a fairly cordial separation, no cheating, etc. Its probably rare but it does happen. That is still a part of their life so maybe they want to keep it. Upon re-marriage some even keep it as a middle name, connection to children and memory of a part of life from before.
