I was thinking the exact thing today. It would be refreshing.
"I apologized to Motte for calling him a ****. I shouldn't have done that. But I'm not apologizing to all of the homosexual, bisexual, transgender, whatever people out there who were unnecessarily upset about this. Words can have different meanings and intent is very important when using a word. I have absolutely no negative feelings toward the LGBT community, but I will not apologize or be beaten down by their faux outrage."

Yeah unless Jason Motte is gay (which he's not), then it doesn't mean the same thing.
If he came out and was calling Devon Travis the n word, that may be a little different
Although I'm of the opinion that words are just words and that no matter what word in any scenario, they don't really matter (although I realize that's not the world we live in)
