Rockies at the Twins last night. Freeland pitches 6 innings and gets the win. Holland comes in the bottom of the 9th with the Rockies ahead 7-3, Twins have one man on base. Holland faces one batter, gets the out and is credited with his 17th save.

i believe if a guy comes in with a guy on base and a 4 run lead, then thats a save.

Box score shows Holland inherited 2 runners meaning the tying run was on deck meaning it's a save.

There were 2 men on base. If you add up the 2 men on base plus the guy at bat plus the guy on deck, you get 4 which counts for a save.

If the potential tying run is 'in the hole' then it's a save situation.
So, with one runner on, a 4-run lead is a save situation.
Also can get a save for pitching the final 3 innings of a win, regardless of the score.
ETA: It's actually the potential tying run on deck, not in the hole, my bad. Like said, there were two runners on base, not one.
