You want to lament the fact that insurance companies have a profit motive, I am asking you to look one step further and realize that Doctors have a profit motive as well.

Look, it's just like anything else in life you have to pick 2 out of the following 3:

1) Affordable
2) High Quality
3) Universal

With a private insurance based system, you get 1 and 2.

With a universal system, you get 1 and 3

If you want 2 and 3, you will bankrupt the country, then no one gets healthcare.
