To deny the Syrian government has allowed and even encouraged expansion of ISIS and related atrocities is to disconnect from reality.

That is not true at all.

ISIS gets most of it's support from Sunni Arabs--many inside SA.

The Iranians and Syrians hate them.

This entire civil war in Syria is about gas pipelines and who controls the land they will pass over IMHO.

Why did Assad release Zahran Alloush, the former leader of Jaysh al-Islam, from Seidnaya prison in 2011?

Why did Assad release Hassan Abboud, the founder of Ahrar al-Sham, from Seidnaya prison in 2011?

Why did Assad release Abul Abbas al-Shami, the later top commander in Ahrar al-Sham, from Seidnaya prison in 2011?

Why did Assad release Abu Malik al-Talli, the top commander in Jabhat al-Nusra in Qalamoun, from Seidnaya prison in 2011?

Why did Assad release Abu Ali al-Shar'i, a former ISIS judge (who even ISIS thought was too extreme), from Seidnaya prison in 2011?

Why did Assad release Mohammad Hayder al-Zammar, a 9/11 recruiter and later ISIS commander and ABM funder, from prison in 2013?
