I'm saying that the right has secured the high-ground on this issue. Military compensation and spending are basically an untouchable part of the budget and the tactic they use is to perpetuate the idea that "these folks are heroes. How can you reduce the compensation of a hero? How can you reduce the budget of our heroes?"

Democrats lobby for domestic spending...Conservatives lobby for military spending. I didn't think that was even a controversial statement.
