Bottom line, I think he gets a lot of negativity here and it's largely unfounded. As I said, a lot of you seem to be infatuated with younger coaches who have accomplished less.

First. I respect you admitting that you don't follow college hoops closely. I also agree with you that some fans are simply insatiable, but it's safe to say there are a handful of us that don't need to look at Kermit's historical record. We've actually seen him coach games(before this tourney).

The said younger coaches have accomplished less due to their age. They will be the coaches in 5 years the average fan asks "why can't we hire a guy like that".

I'll assume, for the sake of civility, that you misinterpreted my post and will just ignore your first couple of statements.

As far as the younger coaches who have accomplished less "due to age" comment... So, you're acknowledging that those opinions are just assumptions based on no measurable outcome to date. I appreciate that honesty very much. Assuming a young coach will be the next star can be a crap shoot. I'd prefer proven success especially good showings in the tournament.

I agree that Davis shouldn't be the top candidate, but I'm not comfortable with assuming another candidate with fewer accomplishments will eventually achieve more just because the average fan on a message board says so. Davis isn't my first choice either, but well regarded basketball minds speak highly of him and I'll put more faith in that than the opinion of the rant.

Having said that, I'd prefer Brey or Collins. If I'm taking a young guy, I'd go with Forbes. Davis would not be a bad hire if you get to that point, but yes, I'd prefer someone else gets first offer.
