re: Insurance on an overpowered boat

Those plates are from the manufactures, coast guard doesn't care.

Maybe some states out west or up northeast might have laws, but I'd guess a lot of the southern states don't care either.


I can see insurance, but shop around and you will find someone. Now if you are negligent in the overpowering or operation, you are screwed. But a little over and still under weight should be able to get by.
