Then why not just say "I don't want to discuss national strategy at this time" when he's pressed for specifics? This is how he talks regardless of whether it's a foreign policy issue, a domestic issue, or the size of his crowds. He shows a severe lack of knowledge on basically all issues and he can't articulate even basic thoughts

What good would that do?
If he did that all the media and people like you would say is "OMG this idiot doesn't have a plan".
