Hard to answer. Sure, lock him up for ever and he will eventually stop feeling remorse. The story fades and everybody goes on with their life.

Nothing will bring back the life of the victim. Lock him up for life and there is no story. No discussion on this site. No discussion on other sites. Just forgotten.

This way we are discussing it and hopefully will prevent another person from getting behind the wheel drunk. Part of the punishment is for the drunk driver. The other part is for prevention. I would have made it one week per year for life though.

but BHM what does it say to people when they're at the bar tonight where this happened? It says get drunk and drive bc worst case is you spend 1 week a year in jail. If they had it in the back of their heads that if they got drunk and drove that we would amputate their leg, would they still get behind the wheel of a car drunk?

Again I hate saudi arabia in every way imaginable as a nation, but when it comes to justice and punishing those who commit crimes like theft and murder, their barbaric punishments seem to have made alot of people think twice before committing crimes.

As someone stated earlier, a DUI is a badge of honor in this country, its cool to drink and drive, we have to make it a huge crime to drink and drive not a simple $10,000 DUI fine and you move on with your life. Again nobody in here really cares until one of their loved ones is killed by one of these savages and then they'll change their tune.
