So we are assuming trump was behind this not just informed of it 2 weeks prior to forcing Flynn's resignation. We are also assuming Flynn wasnt forced to resign for just leaking information as trump is saying.

Since we are using assumptions with sprinkled in facts to declare a secret agenda I'll give you another one for fun:
Obama purposefully pulled out of Iraq having left leadership there destined to fail. We left weapons and equipment there to be "captured" by the Islamic state of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the vacuum left by the crumbled government. These weapons were to be used against the Assad regime in Syria as our way of a proxy war. He did this to creat a refugee crisis in two Muslim nations selling out western civilization to Muslim migration while he had fellow globalist partners leading the EU. Brexit and Trump are foiling his plan.
In response the left resorts to identity politics, as always, using racism and white guilt to push for the migration. To further prey on Americans peace of mind they revive the old Cold War boogey-man Russia to undermine trump. This is after Obama himself has made jokes about the thought of Russia being a threat: "the 1980s called."

So I guess our choices are the Muslims or the Russians?

There isn't a Russian database the US isn't probing, and vice versa. If you don't think the US is trying to influence Russian politics as well that is naive. I don't like that it happened, but in running the US government preventing others from being successful is part of the job, a big part. Same with the Chinese and every other nation

Obama selling western civilization out to Muslims and trump selling the US out to Russians are both very unlikely. But the peices are there for both narratives if that's how you want peice them together.
Maybe they are/were just two people running their nation in the direction they deem best, and the country is very passionately split in which direction is best. So much so that no matter which side is in power vast amounts of resources are dedicated to destroy them politically. There will never again be a president everyone likes with today's availability of information and sheer amount of dialogue about every tidbit (like this site). Unless there is another world war or catastrophic event that unites us against a common threat.
