50 Feather brand platinum coated blades for $13 on Amazon. Will last me bout 18 months.
Taylor of Old Bond street shaving cream for $16 on Amazon. Will last me 7-8 months.
Let's see DSC or anyone else beat that
Be fair. What was the buy in on your handle and brush?

They became popular because everyone needed to speed up life... it was marketed as a safer faster way to shave.
I haven't used a cartridge razor in over 2 years.
The cost savings is something I considered when I first started shaving with a safety razor, but I soon realized shaving with a safety razor was something I really enjoyed and I take my time and enjoy my shaves a lot more now. I have more shave gear / creams / soaps then I ever would have had if I would have stayed with cartridges.
So for me the safety razor is more expensive but I enjoy my time especially weekends when I can spend extra time getting a really nice shave.
