re: Middleton & Lockett to be torn down under newly proposed master plan

Yes, none of this is really binding.
Lockett was marked to be removed in the 2003 Master Plan created under Emmert. But Middleton Library remained in place in that plan and ostensibly was only going to be renovated. 2003 plan
What makes this plan different is that some of the components are already under way. For instance, the BoS document I linked up earlier has a followup presentation from Res Life about tearing down the greenhouses over by ECA, tearing down Blake/McVoy/Herget/Acadian annex, and building 6 new residences halls to replace them. This plus the activity over near Kirby Smith Hall and along Nicholson demonstrate that what's presented is also well underway toward being built. That does make this plan a little more exciting.
Finally, and I'm not trying to CSB here, but I chatted with Alexander a year ago in DC at an alumni event and brought up the library. He seemed pretty committed to tearing it down. Of course, there's a lot of planning and money that are needed to make it happen. But I'm optimistic in that this plan makes this more of a possibility than the previous one did. The conversation about Middleton has shifted thankfully.
