This is what I'm saying. Football coaches are the most conservative people on earth. I think there is plenty of room for innovation in the game of football and we don't even see coaches attempting to make a name for themselves by challenging flawed conventional wisdom. They've all accepted that you get three downs to get a first down and then you punt. Punting is a terrible decision more often than not and IMO taking the punting crutch off the table for your team would greatly simplify a coach's "game management" strategy. The idea is simple. Try to score every single time you get the ball and avoid giving the ball to the other team. I think your team would start performing better under pressure because they would constantly be under pressure.
