If they are going to go cheap, might want to take a look at the one at LSUA. Here's what happened last night.

LSUA dominates No. 8 Wiley

The highly-billed matchup between No. 1 LSU of Alexandria and No. 8 Wiley appeared to live up to the hype early Friday.

Then, the Generals handled business.

A 33-7 run to close the first half was the groove that LSUA needed as it notched a 97-62 win for its 30th straight victory in The Fort.

"It's a nice way to start the new year," Generals coach Larry Cordaro said. "Even in the first half after being down by a few points, our guys responded and had a 16-point lead at halftime."
LSUA trailed 21-13 with 11:56 left in the first half, but seized control after its defense clamped down on the Wildcats offense and crashing the offensive glass.

The Generals scored 22 second chance points, while holding Wiley to 35.1 percent shooting in the final 32 minutes of the game.

"I told them that we were down 16 (at halftime) and let's come out with that mentality," Cordaro said. "We reached our goal of holding under 65 points. I'm proud of our defensive effort."
Off of the bench, junior forward Brandon Moss scored 24 points, while Jordin Williams and (15 points) and Brian Sylvester (10 points) reached double figures.

"When you have the Generals that can come in off of the bench (playing well), we're very deep," Cordaro said. "I think we just wear on teams and it showed in the second half. Wiley just ran out of gas."

Wiley struggled as senior forward and three-time All-RRAC recipient George Page, a native of Winnfield, was held to nine points and no rebounds.

Ricardo Artis has 16 points and 11 rebounds, but the Wildcats shot 38.5 percent in the second half as LSUA cruised to a victory on its newly renovated floor.

"It was special for us to open up the purple A and to come out with a win against a Top 10 ball club," Cordaro said. "We're just going to continue working and continue doing what we do and that's playing extremely hard."
