I believe there are bass or bay boats that hit in the 90's no problem.
When I bought my champion with a Mariner back in the day 70 mph was considered a high speed. I could have put more money in my mariner to trick it out to get more speed.
I wussed out chosing to repower with an evinrude etec could not beat the price and regulations on some West Coast lakes steered me toward the etec.
It is not a suped up Mercury but running in the 70's is fast enough for me.
