Bowlsby has moved the goalposts more than the committee. The Big 12 tried to market itself as unique in 2014 because all 10 teams played each other. They came up with the "One True Champion" slogan, but then dropped it at the end of the season & declared co-champions because TCU was ranked a couple spots higher than Baylor at the end of the season, but lost to Baylor.

They will add a conference championship game next year. Why? It isn't to determine a champion. The Big 12 round robin regular season does that. Bowlsby has consistently stated it is to add a 13th data point. It was to help teams in the Big 12 like Baylor that schedule no decent OoC games. It gives them one more game against a quality opponent.
