Are they generally pretty easy to care for?
I raise rabbits, primarily to eat though. Rabbits do well in the cold. On the very cold nights, make sure they're not in direct wind and place a heat lamp in the cage.
Very easy to take care of.... Pellets, alfalfa, water... they love carrots, celery, fresh parsley, and fresh cilantro.
Use a wire cage, so the shite can fall through. Start a little compost pile somewhere to dump the shite every few days, or just throw it in the ditch.
And yeah, you will be the one taking care of the rabbit. Get one as young as possible or one that has been played with a lot already, otherwise the rabbit will never make a very good pet.
