My point was that saying that he can't be a good head coach for LSU isn't in any way related to the fact that LSU has won national titles.
And im not saying Es orgeron cant or wont be successful at LSU. But when you're hiring a coach you want to hire a coach that eliminates some questions.
1. Has this coach ever ran a successful offense?
2. Has this coach ran a successful defense?
3. Has this coach ran a successful program.
If youre being honest the answer to all 3 is no for Ed orgeron.
I just want lsu to hire a more qualified candidate that has proven he can do one of those 3 things.
If O is hired i will back him 100 %. Until then i think there are too many questions regarding his coaching to give him the lsu job.
Regardless what you guys think you dont see position coaches get hc jobs at a top 10 program.
IMO there are dozens of potential candidates with better resumes and have proven more than O. Thats what im saying

Do you not see the difference as it relates to what their responsibilities are, and in conjunction with what a head coach's responsibilities are?
Yes and a coordinator has far more responsibilities. An assistant head coach IS NEVER coaching for his job.YOU never see assistant head coaches getting fired mid season. Coordinators are above assistant head coaches and they have far more to do with a successful program than an assistant head coach.

quote:Your logic is way off base. Nick was not the coach at LSU that he is today. LSU was a learning process for him. Yes , he was a decent coach while he was here but he is on another level now. People are judging O by what he did at Ole Miss. Tell me how many coaches have been successful at OM? As for as I'm concerned coach O is 10-3 right now as a head coach. Last time I looked no one has put Bama on the ropes like LSU did. I believe with a few coaching changes that he will be successful here. Give him a year or two contract. Then re-evaluate. One thing is certain if it doesn't work out, the talent will be in place for the next coach
Agreed, his job is on DL as it's been for almost his entire career.

The one before him and the two after him for starters. We're not saying Coach O will definitely fail. Why chance it if there's someone available that has shown he can do it successfully?

Cutcliffe and Nutt? Really? I didn't consider them successful, but if that's what you're calling successful then why do you have such a problem with Coach O? Honest question, not flaming.

Successful compared to Coach O's 10-25 record there? Absolutely.

See that's the problem, The people against O are judging him for his tenure at O.M. That was 10 years ago. A person learns a lot in 10 years. He has gained experience and knowledge. As a former player, I am all about seeing his work.

Hell Tubbs went 25-20 at OM and he was successful at Auburn. Same thing with Rich Rod. My point is , O will make it happen here. The program is built. All any coach has to do is sustain. Let your coordinators do their jobs. That's what they get paid for.

And he's shown it from all of the HC offers he's received since then right?
