Assistant Head coach IS BENEATH COORDINATORS. thanks again for making the point that in 32 years ed orgeron has NEVER ONCE successfully ran an offense, defense, or program. Hell he has never ran special teams. Pardon me for wanting lsu's new coach to have actually done at least 1 of these.

Dude. You're making me disagree with you and agree with Peej. That has never happened before. I feel dirty. Please stop.

Dabo took over a program that had 2 top 20 finishes since 2001. My god. Its not same. In no way was Clemson thought of as a big time program.

Would you agree that Dabo is a good coach? Is that not what we want for LSU? Or do we just want to be able to say "we got who we wanted!!!"?

Of course but if Clemson had 2 National titles in 12 years and 4 conf titles they wouldnt have given the job to career position coach.
You're willing to give a position coach one of the hardest jobs in cfb with the hopes that he ends up like one guy that it worked out for?
Come the frick on. Its madness.
Clemson wasnt a big time program when dabo got the job and he was not 55 years old.
Would ed orgeron get the bama job if it were open? Ohio state? Michigan? Honest answer? There are dozens of coaches with better resumes than ed orgeron. Aranda has a better resume.
Do you think if Dabo moved on from clemson that Ed orgeron would be a candidate?

Id like to say we got a qualified coach .
Ed orgeron has never doen anything that proves he can successfully run a program.

Keep laughing youre just making yourself look stupid. Clemson was not a big time program when they gave the job to Dabo and he wasnt 55 years old.
Im still waitng for an example of a position coach OR ASSISTANT HEAD COACH getting a big time job. It does not happen and youre proving your lack of football knowledge by saying it does.

Well, this is just patently false, especially as it relates to running the program. There is actually far more to running a program than just calling plays on Saturday.
Posted on 11/16/16 at 11:56 am to Fratigerguy
You really don't expect him to answer this and completely blow off the fact that he's said "IT NEVER HAPPENS" do you?

Ha ha ha. Ok im done. Yeah you see all these coordinators hoping to one day become an assistant head coach. Lol.
Yeah im done discussing this with someone that doesnt know coordinator is above assistant head coach. Hey when is the last time espn reported on the new ASSISTANT HEAD COACH at any program? Lol. Im done here.

It doesnt. Clemson was in no way a big time program when dabo took the job.
When dabo took the job clemson had ZERO TOP 20 FINISHES since 2000.
Clemson's highest ranking in 8 years prior to dabo was 21st.

You said position coaches never go on to be head coaches
Two examples that you refuse to accept, because you don't know what the frick you are talking about

What? I said no position coach goes onto to HC at a big time program.
Jim Harbaugh did not go from position coach to stanford.
I never said position coaches dont go onto hc at lesser programs.
My god.

Because they dont match the criteria dumbass.
Jim Harbaugh didnt go from qbs coach to the head coach of a big program.
Neither did dabo. They went to hc of lesser programs.
My god youre stupid

Not a dispute there. I agree with you. My point was that saying that he can't be a good head coach for LSU isn't in any way related to the fact that LSU has won national titles. Those are independent event not related to his ability to lead the tigers. Agreed?
quote:

No. I'm willing to give the coach who has over a decade worth of experience running or being intimately involved in running a program the job. And my reasoning has nothing to do with him being a good ole boy from down the bayou.
I've seen too many folks point out that CEO is just running what Les built. Fair enough. But he's not just running it. He has improved upon it. Every position group has gotten better under O. Their intensity, their focus, their attitudes, the execution. Practices are better, film study is better, recruiting hasn't fallen off as evidenced by only 1 recommit after the firing, and the recruits fond words of O. Younger guys are getting more playing time. Other players are given an opportunity to prove themselves, and are rewarded for doing so. Pretty much every single metric is better under O.
I understand you are a big Les fan (you'll say a facts fan), but so am I. Check my post history. I've applauded many of your posts on the subject. I think he did a great job for LSU, and we won at a clip higher than we ever have before. Knowing that, I am struggling to find something that O can't do as well or better than Les. If you can point to something, by all means, point it out. But if you can't objectively think of something, wouldn't that be a good thing for LSU if O was retained? Someone that is as good or better for LSU than Les was?

Do you not see the difference as it relates to what their responsibilities are, and in conjunction with what a head coach's responsibilities are?
