My door is a double car door made of aluminum. How do I determine the right spring? Can I get it from lowes or HD?

Its steel not aluminum and typically box stores won't sell the springs. You'll need to find a door distributor or better yet get on eBay. Youll need a winding bar as well if they're torsion springs.
Eta....On the eBay when looking for springs , most sellers give you directions on how to count the coils on the old spring to find what size you need
