Number of gates matter more than actual butts in seats in this case. Planes have to dock for boarding and unboarding no matter what the load factor is. Noone expects MSY to evolve into an international hub, but having only only 2 gates can be an issue. As far as the BA to LHR flight, there's absolutely no way it gets dropped in less than 2 years and it's more likely to go to daily in a year than ever getting dropped.

Never is that true.

Concourse A has been closed for years. There are gates now.

Nobody flies $200 million 787 aircraft to an airport because there is an empty gate.

Do you have any numbers anywhere to back that up?

There is not enough population (my guess) that uses MSY traveling to London to fill up a 767 every day.

It's not like London has been more than one stop from MSY in decades.

United, Delta and American frequent fliers are not going to stop using them to fly BA on the days they elect to service MSY every week. All three of the existing carriers can get you to London in 10-11 hours today with one stop and do it every day of the week.

If BA thought there was a lot of business here they would start with daily service.
