My mother quit after smoking since she was a teenager. Nothing worked, and we had given up on pleading with her. Flu complications put her in the hospital two years ago, and the Dr told her she had to quit, no excuses. That's all it took, and she hasn't smoked since. She walks on the treadmill 18-20 minutes a day now, and they've been able to cut back her blood pressure medication.
