They have a vertical line survey as well that samples artificial reef structures, natural bottom, and petroleum platforms.

That data however is not used because all the gulf states decided to use their own design in implementing it. Changes were made for a couple of years in a row by the states and it essentially made the survey useless because it wasn't standardized.

I believe this upcoming year the states got their collective shut together and will finally complete a standardized survey
