Second the suggestion to call his parents if you have their contact info. If he becomes potentially suicidal, in some areas, only immediate family can push for a 72 hour stay at a facility through court. He might get pissed, but you never know what's going on in someone's head and how bad it can be underneath the surface.
Unfortunately there's still a stigma when it comes to mental health and depression and it does make some people, especially college-age males, resistant to get help.
