They fired into the car as it was speeding away, which is against Their written police policy. The guy got out and ran and they shot him in the back.
If I had a dollar for everytime I stole a car and ran away from the police...

As a reminder, Chicago police policy prohibits the use of shooting at a car when the only danger presented is the car it's self.
quote:
officers screamed at O'Neal while he was on the ground dying, saying, "Why did you have to shoot at us?"
[He was unarmed].
A source told ABC Eyewitness News that apparently the officers who fired the fatal shots thought O'Neal had fired on the officers who were first on the scene.
O'Neal was shot in the back. He was unarmed at the time.
You could tell, watching these videos, that the narrative to cover this up had already begun before anything happened. You could hear officers telling other officers to cut off their body cameras."
quote:
's unclear as to whether or not he was the actual shooter, but you are going to one of the police officers say, 'Now I'm going to get a 30-day suspension,'" said Michael Oppenheimer, the O'Neal family's attorney.
